Pixels with Pigtails?

I’m Brandi–welcome to my site! There’s no real rhyme or reason why pixels have pigtails in my little online world, but both concepts seem applicable to various quirky aspects of my life, so I thought it made a catchy domain name. This is the humble home of my design portfolio as well as a section that houses various thoughts I may want to share on design, development, or music.

Background

Currently, I live in Washington, DC and have a full-time day job as a web designer. That means I design and build the CSS/HTML framework of many different types of sites, as well as modify existing CMS frameworks, etc. I also do Flash animations and video, mid-level actionscripting, and other various artsy endeavors like photography. I secretly want to be a programmer (there actually is logic to my madness), but *shhh* don’t tell anyone!

Interests

My passions would have to be animals, design, and music. Maybe brownies and s’mores as well. I enjoy the musical stylings of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Bjork, Eisley, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Goldfrapp, Band of Horses, The Bird and the Bee, Blonde Redhead, of Montreal, Sufjan Stevens, David Bowie (of course!), and about a million more too many to name in an orderly list.

Artistically, I have an interest in motion graphics that’s always been on the back-burner; maybe I’ll get around to delving into some courses. I also can’t wait to experiment with my new Diana+ plastic camera to see what kind of weird effects 120 format film, pinholes, and pure chance can create.

Interests, edible

I may be tiny, but I’m a hungry girl. I have a diverse range of favorite foods which give me energy and propel my creative abilities forward, including sushi (spicy crunchy tuna roll!), grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, ravioli, brownies, chocolate, dark chocolate, peanut butter, ginger, pretzels, cottage cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, watermelon, milkshakes and maltshakes, Oreos, strawberries, sweet potato casserole, crab cake sandwiches, cheese danishes, Papa John’s, and Lucky Charms. I particularly enjoy combinations of salty + sweet.
